First-Year Experience

Welcome to the First-Year Experience at Converse! Our goal is to assist new students as they develop intellectually, socially, and emotionally. There is a direct connection here between what happens in and beyond the classroom; you will find that our academic and student life programs are complementary and interrelated.

Before You Arrive

Once you deposit, an email will explain how to obtain access to your information and what forms need to be filled out. First-year students should check their Converse e-mail daily, since this is the primary way Converse conducts its business with students.

Student Orientation

Welcome Week introduces the newest members of our community to those Converse traditions which are central, both philosophically and functionally, to the University. The Honor system, speaking tradition, student self-governance, undergraduate curriculum, educational and social events, student organizations and meeting fellow classmates are just a few of the many highlights of the Orientation program.

First-generation college students at Converse are trailblazers! Converse supports our first-gen students with programs, events and guidance to ensure they reach their full potential.
